Dog Training Expert
Hello, my name is Emma Spamer MISAP. For the past four years, I've successfully run the Essex Dog Training - Rochford franchise in Essex, where I've assisted countless owners in realising their dog-owning dreams. Under my management, this business continues to thrive with an outstanding team dedicated to the work I initiated. Now, I'm thrilled to bring my dog training program to Norfolk, a move I've been dreaming about for years.
My journey in dog training began with hands-on experience at local kennels, where I gained extensive knowledge of various breeds, social interactions, and dog behaviour. I firmly believe that immersing oneself among these incredible animals is the most effective way to learn through observation. To further enhance my skills, I pursued qualifications in dog training, behaviour, and psychology from Compass Education. Additionally, I'm a registered member of the International Society of Animal Professionals.
Passion for Dogs
While I love working with all types of dogs, from the small and fluffy to the larger breeds, I have a particular soft spot for Rottweilers. My two dogs, Rukiya and Bucky, are integral members of my team. They've been my companions over the years, providing support to dogs facing challenges. Their ability to communicate fluently in "dog" is something wonderful to observe. It is after all their first language, I couldn't ask for better work mates.
Specialised Support
I offer support for all behaviour cases but specialise in reactivity and separation anxiety—emotional behaviours that require a deep understanding. My approach involves helping owners comprehend the underlying emotions triggering these behaviours and devising a tailored plan to assist both owner and dog in overcoming their struggles. It's a collaborative effort where mutual understanding is key.
Training Philosophy
I teach a combination of positive reinforcement and concept training to help our dogs thrive in this ever-changing human world we ask them to share with us. I believe you don't need to use pain to achieve great real-world results. My methods focus on building confidence, understanding, and a strong bond between owner and dog through effective techniques that respect the dog's natural learning abilities.
A Scent Work Enthusiast
Beyond training, I'm also actively involved with The National Nosework Association as a trial official and judge. In my spare time, I enjoy competing in scent work with both Rukiya and Bucky. This hobby allows us to bond further and continue learning together.
I trained and qualified with K9 Scent & Search Instructor Academy to offer scent classes for all levels.
I look forward to bringing my passion and expertise to Norfolk, introducing more owners and their dogs to this fascinating sport where you really see the world through your dogs nose
